Esquel attained OEKO-TEX® STeP Certification

We are pleased to announce that Guangdong Esquel Textiles (GET) has successfully attained the OEKO-TEX® STeP Certification, Level 3, which is the highest classification, for its environmentally friendly production and applying socially responsible policies thoroughly in the textile processing chain. We are the first textile enterprise in the country to be granted with this new certification.

Our scope of certification includes printing (carousel and flat), making-up of knitted and woven garments, spinning, twisting, knitting, weaving, dyeing (fibre, yarn, beam, knitted and woven fabrics), finishing, making-up of knitted/woven garments and garment washing.

STeP, short for Sustainable Textile Production, was launched in July 2013 by Oeko-Tex Association with an advanced set of assessment standards to replace its existing Oeko-Tex Standard 1000. STeP investigates environmental management and the fulfillment of social responsibility of textile companies.

Oeko-Tex Association has appointed TESTEX, a Switzerland-based Swiss Textile Testing Institute for the audits to ensure Esquel’s manufacturing processes complies with the requirements of STeP and its 6 modules of assessment, including chemicals, environmental performance, environmental management, social responsibility, quality management and safety.
